Life cycle phases

The life cycle phases are divided into information modules (A-D) in accordance with EN 15978. The boundaries of these modules are summarized below.

Production

  • A1 - Extraction of raw materials
  • A2 - Transportation to production
  • A3 - Production

Erection

  • A4 - Transportation of materials to the construction site and transportation of machines to the construction site
  • A5 - On-site processes (setup/installation)

Utilization

  • B1 - Effects and aspects resulting from the use of the building component of a building. E.g. release of substances from the façade, roof, etc.
  • B2 - Maintenance
  • B3 - Repair
  • B4 - Replacement of products
  • B5 - Modernization
  • B6 - Energy consumption during operation
  • B7 - Water consumption during operation

End of Life

  • C1 - Demolition / dismantling
  • C2 - Transportation for waste treatment or disposal
  • C3 - Waste treatment
  • C4 - Waste disposal (landfill)

Recycling

  • D1 - Material recycling
  • D2 - Energy recycling
