KBOB
The KBOB list (“Life Cycle Assessment Data in the Construction Sector”) is the official Swiss data source for life cycle assessments in the construction industry. It is published by KBOB (Coordinating Conference of Construction and Real Estate Bodies of Public Building Owners) in collaboration with ecobau and IPB (Association of Private Professional Building Owners).
The current list (2009/1:2022, Version 9.0) is available for free download on the KBOB website.
It contains data on building materials, building services, energy supply, transportation, and waste disposal processes. The values reflect the average environmental impact of products sold on the Swiss market; in addition, manufacturer-specific data is provided.
Indicators
- Environmental Impact Points (EIP) – Total Environmental Impact Based on the Ecological Scarcity Method (Eco-Factors 2021)
- Greenhouse gas emissions in kgCO2-eq – across the entire supply chain (Scope 1–3)
- Primary energy in kWh oil-eq—total, renewable, and non-renewable (gray energy), each broken down into the portion used for energy and the portion used for materials
- Biogenic carbon in kg C – carbon stored in the material (e.g., in wood)
Life cycle phases
- Manufacturing – Raw material extraction, energy supply, transportation to the plant, production (including infrastructure) and all emissions
- Waste Disposal – Demolition, Transportation, Landfilling, Incineration, or Recycling
- Total – Sum of manufacturing and disposal
Transportation from the factory to the construction site, installation at the construction site, and maintenance during use are generally not included.
